It was easy enough to take Pumbas from good to great as they boasted an award from Trip Advisor naming them top hostel in Pretoria three years running. We put together and implemented a strategy that included regular blog posts, seasonal specials posted to Facebook and of course hipster travel content to Instagram, to stay current.

The desire for PlayOut was to increase likes and engagement on their Facebook page and to ultimately drive users to the USSD platform. The Black Barrel team soon came up with competition related content to motivate existing followers to invite friends to the page and to ultimately encourage interaction on the PlayOut platform. Over the last eight months PlayOut has increased their Facebook following to 15 000 and in turn engagement on their USSD. The PlayOut foundation also supports a myriad of social causes and recently donated R10 000 to the 2017 Movember campaign.
Rocket Rooster has nothing to do with rockets or roosters, however is a testosterone supplement for men. The brus at Black Barrel found clever (and subtle) ways to encourage online product purchases through Facebook advertising. Regular content is posted on the Rocket Rooster Facebook page that falls within the infotainment category. With a limited budget the team was able to focus on boosting advertisements rather than applying content to platforms that don’t cater to the product or consumer base. In November 2017 a Love your Balls campaign was launched to raise awareness for the Movember foundation, this campaign increased online sales by up to 30%.
